It is good that Sandy raised this thread initially. Many of us may have
attended the Desktop Summit 09 and had a feel/glimpse of what/how the
gnome-shell is like. Now that was 3 moths ago, many (me included) still
love to keep up on a bigger picture of ting without necessary to build
gnome-shell :)

Thank you Colin, I promise that before I open my mouth again I'll try
a recent build and check bugzilla. ;-)
I understand it's not very helpful for me to say "I don't think the
overview is useful" without providing a better suggestion. But on the
other side, I do think it's fair to compare what gnome-shell brings
with what we currently have and other popular desktop modifications.
