I don't remember now and haven't a usb stick to test but I remember 
accessing a usb stick in a virtual machine. In my VirtualBox screen, 
running on a Solaris host, the USB (Device filter) option is right below 
the "Serial Port" option. I believe you'll need to plug in the USB 
device before granting virtual machines access to that device.
