Heck, I'd like to see this for areas outside of JDS (although exposed
via JDS.) There are a lot of people who contribute to make OpenSolaris
the incredible product it is. Rolling credits would be "neat". (Plus,
in some cases, there are doco requirements for copyright holders.)
The folks I'm thinking about aren't just Sun employees either. Roland,
Murayama, and others have contributed code, time, and energy into making
OpenSolaris even better. It would be cool if their names could be
posted somewhere "nice". Ala "About OpenSolaris..." You could even
have sections for things like "Product Engineering", "Quality
Engineering", "Documentation", etc.
I recognize not everyone would want this form of recognition, but maybe
offer a signup web page where contributors can offer up their name and a
brief justification of what their contribution is.
I'll also point out that this form of external recognition might be just
the sort of carrot to get some of those "internal folks" at Sun to
recognize the benefit to participating more openly in the "external"
community.
