  If you want to go down that route, do bear in mind that there has been 
some talk or effort in the community to have different backgrounds for 
different workspaces. That will certainly impact how the GUI would look 
like. As far as I can know, there has been some GSOC proposals for this 
but though is unlikely to be accepted within the list of projects proposed.
