Cheese has been in SFE for a while, it works fine, but what is missing is the gstreamer v4l2 plugin. V4L2 is the interface used by the webcam driver. I am planning to add the missing gstreamer plugins, possibly as part of SFEgnome-media-extras (which includes some other plugins right now). For now, the Flash 9 player can record video and works with ustream.tv and WengoVisio. -Albert
