I do not think that David is biased as raw1394 does have some
exposure/security questions to answer. Unfortunately it is the missing
link left to get apps linke Kino working (I will try the Solaris patches
for av1394/libraw1394 before diving into a raw1394 port). I read there
is a new Linux firewire stack that does not require raw1394, but
libraw1394 is not yet fully converted....
