rmvolmgr handles media events only in absence of GNOME session. But when GNOME is running, it's nautilus/gvfs. In your case, media gets mounted by rmvolmgr during boot - that means HAL and rmvolmgr work fine. If instead of logging into GNOME, you log into text console, inserting the DVD should also get it mounted. So the regression must be in gvfs/nautilus. -Artem
