Hi folks!

On March, 9 my Pidgin couldn't connect to the ICQ server complaining that the
version I use is too old and directing me to pidgin.im. I visited Pidgin's
official web site and found out that there are no binaries for OpenSolaris. So
I have downloaded the sources of the latest version and tried to build them. I
was not successful in this effort - the build script ended up with an error
telling me that I must have development headers for GLIB. I have GLIB
installed, so I don't know how to get the development headers for it. I
launched the Package Manager with a hope that I can get the latest update from
the repository but there is still only Pidgin 2.5.1 (while the latest one is
already 2.5.5). So could anyone tell me when the newest Pidgin will be
available in the repository?

I believe that the original problem is caused by the changes AOL regularly
makes in the OSCAR protocol for the past months in order to win the battle with
3d-party ICQ clients - you can read about it in the "Pressure on unauthorized
clients" chapter of this article in Wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ICQ. One of the last moves was "blocking all
unofficial clients from CIS countries", so Russian users of Pidgin seems were
hurt by this impact. So, frankly speaking, I'm doubting that the latest version
of Pidgin can fix the problem. If I'm right and the issue is caused by the
AOL's intentional actions, it needs to be reproduced by the OpenSolaris
developers to be fixed.
I believe that all Russian users of Opensolaris would really appreciate it if
you investigated the issue and made it possible to update Pidgin via the
Package Manager.
Thank you in advance for your efforts.
