I know dtlogin will vanish from SXCE soon. I still use it for one main reason: I can logof to the console to do a proper "init 5" that way I can be sure all processes are shut down cleanly.
I I would use gdm login, I would not be able to log off to a root console. I can only "shut down" the system, but have NO idea at all if it will be done the 'right way' (like an init 5).
