I spoke too soon.  I can't get it come up now.  When I start the server 
in configure mode (using either
X -configure or xorgcfg) the server doesn't make progress after 10 
minutes or so.  If I truss it I only
see setitimer/clock_gettime/pollsys and nothing else.  It looks like the 
i810 driver is no longer
recognizing my 82Q965 chipset.  It gets recognized when booting build 
106, but not when booting
build 109.  I checked for related Xorg bugs on freedesktop.org, but 
nothing jumped out at me.

Does anyone have ideas for how to narrow this down more?  If I'm running 
an unusual graphics
device I can just go buy a cheapo card that's more mainstream.  What's a 
good generic card for
use with X.org, if I don't care about games or anything like that.  I 
have a Sun 20.1 inch LCD
with DVI and 1600x1200.  My primary selector would be that the drivers 
for it don't break.  ;-)
