The desktop background menu is being provided by nautilus, the file manager, and it's mostly hard-coded. So without modifying the code, your options are probably limited to: * Installing (or writing) nautilus plugins, which can add functionality to the right-click menu * Using a different file manager and/or window manager that are more configurable, some of which you can find in various opensolaris package repositories.
