Note that Fluendo currently only sells decoders, which are useful for
playing files encoded in particular formats.. However, they do not
sell any encoders, which would be needed to rip a CD to MP3 format.

Can you play the WAV file in a different player, such as rhythmbox
or Real Player?

Note that when you try to play an audio file and it complains that
it can't open the resource for writing, it usually means that it
can't open your audio device. I'd check your permissions on the
/dev/audio and /dev/audioctl files. What happens if you run
"cat /dev/audio"? Does that work, or complain about file permissions?

When audio players complain about being unable to open the resource
for writing, it is complaining about being unable to send the audio
to the device card, not that it can't read the input file.

I'd say it's a problem with permissions on your audio device. This
can sometimes happen if Solaris doesn't support your audio card. Or
it could be an issue with logindevperm(4).
