It wasn't clear which was which, and after years of seeing font bug reports
& complaints, the only thing that's ever clear is that no one agrees on
what font drawing methods look best, and no matter what we do, we get
complaints. (Some people hate anti-aliasing, others can't believe we offer
an option to turn it off, and that's just the start of the arguments we get
for every change in font rendering.)
Personally, I do think the right box looks clearer, and I wonder if cairo
isn't passing the same options to Xft that pango does, especially around
font hinting/LCD optimization/antialiasing.
