BTW, in case you are not in i18n-discuss alias, default IM trigger key
has been changed as follows from 2008.11, actually since snv_92.
Asian (zh, ja, ko): IM mode key (ja/ko keyboard specific)
If it's not available, then Ctrl+space.
Cyrillic (ru, bg, mk, sr, ua): Shift_L+Control_L
Others: Shift_L+Alt_L
Also from 2008.11 (RC2), default setting for English locales have been
changed to not set IM trigger key (empty the Trigger Key List) and not
launch iiim-panel on gnome-panel (set None for IM Status Placement).
Please note that these changes will be applies to new users.
You can also change your current setting to the above or any others
through iiim-properties utility. I recommend you to make the change
so that your cat can hop on your keyboard without reserve. :-)
