Ghee tells me that SVN is already integrated in Netbeans so that should 
save some work, but yes it would be useful to have mercurial as well.  
This is just an idea, not yet a project but I hope putting it out here 
in the open brings up other suggestions and maybe the best parts can 
become a project.
