Hey, I just submitted a bug http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=471236 for a partial fix for the trash applet with users on ZFS volumes. Before if you had a home directory on a ZFS volume the trash can always was empty, eithen if it contained trash. After adding a one line patch to gnome-vfs the trash can correctly shows the status of the trash can. Unfortunately, I still cannot empty the trash :( I will take another look at it in the morning. Hopefully a full fix is on the way.
