Correct, they require JDS to be installed.

I haven't had a chance to look at BeleniX, or SchilliX yet. Though I 
have been
thinking of what it would take for Xfce not to depend on JDS. If we use 
the base-specs
from JDS and made our own OSOLgtk-libs.spec etc packages. We could cut Xfce
down to the bare essentials. The Linux spec files for Xfce might be 
useful here, as they
specify the low level dependencies.
