SXCE comes with StarOffice 8, but where does that fit into
the OpenSolaris Desktop?

I have a user who's generally been happy since being upgraded
from S10 FCS to SXCE build 59. She's a KDE user, so the
desktop didn't change much. She hated Firefox 2, so I just
installed 1.5 and she was happy.

But I am getting complaints about soffice. I'm told that it's
much slower overall, that spellcheck in particular is like
molasses, and it seems pretty fragile.

A quick test and it's not exactly quick, but not much worse
that I expected. And spell checking works fine for me. But
it's definitely fragile. The first three documents I tried all went
wrong - the first sxi had to be recovered; the next doc crashed
it, and for the third it simply exited silently. So it's not a good
experience, and I wondered what our approach to providing
office tools was.

(My own general experience is that soffice 7 has been
pretty solid and I get on with it pretty well. I have distinctly
negative feelings towards openoffice - the insistence on a
package rather than a basic installer is a major downer -
and when I have used soffice8 or openoffice 2+ I've been
unimpressed: it doesn't feel solid, and I get easily irritated
by it.)
