While the above indicated problem is severe in Sun Ray environment. It 
can also happen
when /etc/mnttab is updated by anything. I have not experience severe 
slowness in a laptop
or single user system at all though.

Do send me a pointer the truss files, just in case it is a diferrent 
problem.
