After i found out that X on SXCE ignores the kernels keyboard mapping and defaults to US layout I stumbled across the fact that X for whatever reason chose to use the nv driver instead of the nvidia one. So I edited xorg.conf to use the nvidia driver which resulted in a warm brick :-( The Xserver tries to start and fails with (II) NVIDIA(0): Initialized GPU GART. (II) NVIDIA(0): Setting mode "nvidia-auto-select" (II) Loading extension NV-GLX (II) NVIDIA(0): NVIDIA 3D Acceleration Architecture Initialized (EE) NVIDIA(0): Need libwfb but wfbScreenInit not found
Fatal server error: AddScreen/ScreenInit failed for driver 0 The bad thing is that it completely borks the console i.e. X failing to start doesn't come back to the text console. I see this with the nvidia drivers included in SXCE (177.xx), also with 180.22 and 180.27 from the NVidia website. libwfb.so is a link to NVIDIA/libnvidia-wfb.so and was there for all driver releases I tried so far. So right now it's back to Xorg + nv driver or is there a simple solution to this issue? Bernd -- This message posted from opensolaris.org
