Thanks for the quick reply and pointer to the bug!

I didn't realize that the registry daemon's failure to launch could have
such a significant impact on the performance of the desktop (beyond
rendering it inaccessible). Yikes!

Anyhoo... I just created a new BE, built at-spi from GNOME's svn trunk,
and re-enabled Assistive Technologies. So far it seems that I'm good to
go with build 107 now. Awesome!
