(on nv108, and never did before)

When I plug a PTP camera (Canon Powershot A460/470), it is recognized as such, 
I can go through to the subfolder with the data/movies. But then gtkam starts 
flashing normal/gray/normal/gray... etc.
Some thumbnails even are visible, the larger part not. All menu items take 
several seconds to appear/become active; and in the end it says that 'There is 
nothing to be stored'. 
There is no hardware problem, everything works well as soon as I reboot the 
same machine to Ubuntu.

Is this a known defect? Any workaround available?
