I have these two, but couldn't for the life of me get the configure
script to see it. Then again, it makes quite a few assumptions about
where things are supposed to be and doesn't allow to override it.

Not much experience with that stuff, but I'll look into it.

I have to see whether that works out of the box or if the build process
is more rigid than I thought and relies on gcc. When I started to build
it, the first error message I've gotten was that there's no /usr/bin/gcc.
