Hi Michal, Shiv --

It seems that this has come down to two options...

1. Have the Desktop Community Group sponsor this effort as a project.
2. Have this effort be a Community Group in its own right.

Although neither is ideal, I personally think option #1 is better 
than option #2.

I realize that your proposal aims at all types of packages, not just
desktop; and that the name of this Community Group, Desktop CG, implies a
scope that's too narrow. Nevertheless, I think the Desktop CG could still
be a very compatible home (for OpenSolaris porters project) because it has
such a strong history for spawning and supporting porting activities in
general -- desktop, server, and other.

P.S. Also note that if project grows big enough and vibrant enough at the
project level, it can easily get itself promoted to become Community Group.
