You'll find a few other surprises in pre8, as well. Many, many bugs have been fixed in relation to Solaris builds. The sysi86 declaration has been fixed. 'configure', by far, has had the most work done ot it. A nasty bug was preventing MMX, MMX2, SSE, SSE2, etc. from being detected on Solaris/x86 builds, and thus all previous MPlayer releases weren't using MMX, etc. on Solaris/x86. mediaLib has also been disabled on SPARC (brokeness, here) and on x86, because of performance concerns. Between processor extensions being detected properly and mediaLib being disabled, there are *huge* performance gains in pre8 compared to its predecessors for Solaris/x86.
Unfortunately, Solaris/SPARC still has some rough edges. There are some endian issues in x11_vo. This is one thing that's on my TODO list to fix, as well as to fix mediaLib on SPARC. If any Solaris users do find bugs in pre8 or sources from the SVN repository *please* contact me, as it is my job to fix it (being the Solaris/AIX port maintainer for the MPlayer project).
