Not at the moment.  It might make a useful system-wide preference
if/when all such apps put the close button there (and personally I hope
they do-- I hate the way Firefox 1.5 does it)-- there's a GNOME bug open
about that where you might like to register your feelings:

A better fix would probably be to have gnome-terminal to pop up an alert
if the shell you were about to close still had child processes
running... the terminal on OS X manages to do this, so maybe it's
possible for us too.
