I had the same problem. I first untared all the files in /tmp. Did a pkgadd of openssl-libs, and then did a install-jds, and it removed openssl. I swapped to my root clone and did exactly all the same steps, but removed the SUNWopenssl-libraries package directory before I did a install-jds, and this time there was no problems.
