Do you mean Workspace (metacity) or Viewport (Compiz) via the workspace switcher applet on the panel ? Ctrl-Alt-Arrow (left or right) will switch from on workspace to another, maybe the workspace switcher applet has died you could try adding it back to the panel if it's not there already. Or maybe your window manager has crashed, although logging out and back in again should have resolved that issue. cheers Matt > disappeared.
