Hi all,

I am not sure this is the right mailinglist to discuss this but
anyway, here goes...

I want to use Inkscape with OpenSolaris 2008.11 but I have yet to find
any binaries.

I am now trying to build Inkscape on my own but I only have little
knowledge of C/C++ development and Sun Studio in conjunction with
C/C++ development.

When I run ./configure in the Inkscape source directory I eventually
get the following output:

checking gc.h usability... yes
checking gc.h presence... yes
checking for gc.h... yes
checking for GC_init in -lgc... no
checking for GC_malloc in -lgc... no
checking for GC_realloc in -lgc... no
checking for GC_free in -lgc... no
configure: error: libgc (the Boehm Conservative Collector) 6.4+, is
needed to compile inkscape --

I guess gc.h presence tells me that gc is available. But strangely the
last line tells me the wrong version is installed.

Running pkginfo -l SUNWlibgc returns:

   PKGINST: SUNWlibgc
NAME: Boehm-Demers-Weiser garbage collector for C/C++
  CATEGORY: GNOME2,application,JDS4
      ARCH: i386
   VERSION: 7.1,REV=110.0.4.2008.10.06.22.12
    VENDOR: Sun Microsystems, Inc.
DESC: Boehm-Demers-Weiser garbage collector for C/C++
HOTLINE: Please contact your local service provider
    STATUS: completely installed

i.e. version 7.1 which is > 6.4.

Is there an easy answer to this? Is this the correct mailinglist? Will
you bear with me with my follow up questions?

Thank you in advance,
Alex
