/var/log/Xorg.0.log shows this line: PCI:*(1:0:0) ATI Technologies Inc RV530 [Radeon X1600]
It also shows that the driver is "ati". Upgrading to NV is not an option for us, since we have to have builds that were submitted for Common Criteria certification. We may be able to swing a driver download to fix it, if that is in fact the solution. 10u5 was released in May, but I don't know how recent the drivers are in it.
