Thanks, but I know how to switch between cups/lp on OpenSolaris.
The printer is connected to a CUPS server running CentOS however.
I print to it from my OpenSolaris/Solaris10 boxes with
this /etc/printers.conf file:

hp1100:\
        :printer-uri-supported=ipp\://bree.nagual.nl\:631/printers/hp1100:\
        :bsdaddr=bree.nagual.nl\:631,hp1100,Solaris:\
        :description=Laserjet 1100A:
_default:\
        :use=hp1100:

This all works very well except for the banner pages that can't be
turned off from (open)solaris other than by giving the -o nobanner.
Of course the banners are set to off on the CUPS server.
