Hi Carlos, Thanks for the reply. I tried switching to the DejaVu fonts as you suggested. Unfortunately, there was no improvement. I did not edit /etc/fonts/conf.avail/..., however, as I am still using "Best Shapes", and not "Subpixel smoothing".
