Hmmm, I'm not sure why the two replies I got to the last post aren't showing in
the discussions forum yet, so it may appear if the post is a non sequitur.
To suggestion to check /var/log/gdm/:0.log to see if GNOME is crashing:
I don't think this is GNOME because last night I restarted the server and just
left it on the graphic login screen without signing in and it crashed again.
The login screen is "pre"-GNOME, right?
Besides, all the gdm log has in it is:
Server is already active for display 0
If this server is no longer running, remove /tmp/.X0-lock
and start again.
I did actually check the /var/log/Xorg.0.log.old last time.
Here's something of note though for the Xorg.0.log. The timestamps ranged from
Sun Dec 13 04:42:46 2009 to Dec 13 04:42:55
Then there was an event at Dec 13 05:06:43
This looks kind of important, does it make sense to anybody?
