Hi,

I don't believe Android phones can be used as regular modems with PPP like
other phones, but they can still act as network gateways.

Depending on whether your phone has restrictions in place, this should
work in the near future:

AFAIK this makes the phone act as a USB CDC ECM (Ethernet) device, which
should be supported by the usbecm driver in build 136 of OpenSolaris (will
be in /dev when it is released):

You can ask for a build of the driver if you need to use it in a current
release of OpenSolaris.

Another option is "Wifi Tether" from http://anda.pk/
