I installed gnome-calendar/46.1-0ubuntu1 from proposed. I opened the Calendar, the menu and chose Online Accounts.
The Settings app opened to the Online Accounts page. I added a Google account. I closed the Settings app. Calendar events from my online account showed in the Calendar app I clicked the time in the top bar, verified it displayed the calendar with my account's events, and the selected day's events detailed in the box below the calendar in that menu.
