I changed screensaver settings from "GLMatrix" to "Blank Screen". I have not seen a recurrence of this issue in the past few days with these settings.

Status in “gnome-session” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: lsb_release -rd reports: Description: Ubuntu 11.04 Release: 11.04 apt-cache policy gnome-session reports: gnome-session: Installed: 2.32.1-0ubuntu20 Candidate: 2.32.1-0ubuntu20 Version table: *** 2.32.1-0ubuntu20 0 500 http://ftp.esat.net/mirrors/archive.ubuntu.com/ natty-updates/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 2.32.1-0ubuntu19 0 500 http://ftp.esat.net/mirrors/archive.ubuntu.com/ natty/main amd64 Packages Gnome session tends to terminate at random intervals. Typically it happens when the screen is locked, and the screen saver is active. I expect the gnome session to persist, and allow me to log into the same session once the screen saver password has been accepted. What actually happens, is the gnome session terminates, and I am returned to the login screen. All running applications are terminated. This tends to happen once to twice per day, and I have not found a way to reliably recreate the issue. I am using Natty Narwhal, with the Ubuntu Classic option.
