The Document Open Password setting is "no" as you can see in the image Acrobat_security.png in the attached zip file. Adobe Reader X 10.0.1 on Windows XP handles the permissions correctly and doesn't ask for password when I open the file. Evince on ubuntu 10.10 asks for password right away when I click to open the document. See the image Evince_security.png Evince should ask for password only when I try to change it's permissions and let me see the file. Unfortunately I cannot attach the PDF file because it's confidential data of a customer. I hope the screenshots are enough to reproduce the problem. $ lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 10.10 Release: 10.10 $ apt-cache policy evince evince: Installed: 2.32.0-0ubuntu1.1 Candidate: 2.32.0-0ubuntu1.1 Version table: *** 2.32.0-0ubuntu1.1 0 500 http://it.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick-updates/main amd64 Packages 500 http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick-security/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 2.32.0-0ubuntu1 0 500 http://it.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick/main amd64 Packages To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evince/+bug/738226/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
