** This bug is no longer a duplicate of bug 732653 Menus are hidden by default ** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 682788 Global menu is not ergonomical on large screens -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. Matching subscriptions: dp-unity https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/824867 Title: global menu does not appear until mouse-over Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: This is really more of a papercut than a bug, but I still think it represents a usability issue, especially for new users. Steps to reproduce: Open any application (non-maximized). Look at the title bar and/or application window. There is no application menu bar (File, Edit, etc.) displayed anywhere in the application window, and only the application title is visible in the top bar. The user does not necessarily know that mousing over the top bar will cause the menu bar to appear, and as the top bar is somewhat empty anyway, it seems like there would be plenty of space to have the menu bar always displayed, and no good reason not to. (i.e. like on OSX).
