Similar problem affected me, too. Right click on Network Manager Applet - Edit
Connection - Wireless - IPV4 Settings - Method - Manual - Add - IP:
192.168.1.1 - Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 - Gateway 19.168.1.254. However, I can
not SAVE this setting. I am on Ubuntu 10.04. With the number of problems I
have had with Network Mangager, I tried to replace it with WICD but it kept
coming back after update, and ruin my setup!
Here's my /etc/network/interfaces file:
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback

I use Network Manager Applet 0.8.

Title:
dhcp <--> static ip doesn't work from GUI

Status in “network-manager-applet” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
I am using Ubuntu 8.10 and having a problem. When I am trying to
change from DHCP to static IP address via Graphic User Interface the
IP address is still the same (after system reboot), but when I am
trying to modifiy /etc/network/interfaces file then everyting it is
ok. So seems to be a problem with Gnome.

Also I've seen the same problem when I was using Linux Mint 6,
  codename "Felicia".

  Can someone check it, please?

  Piotr Fuz
