Thanks, but please have a read of the bug reporting guidelines (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MozillaTeam/Bugs), particularly the section "Hangs, or excessive CPU usage" and it's first sentence: "If Firefox or Thunderbird appears to completely lock up, you must provide a stacktrace of the hung process with your bug report. In most cases, hangs are quite random and non-reproducible, so please don't submit reports without this information."
In future, please read the bug reporting guidelines before submitting a bug. We do ask you to do this on the bug submission form ** Changed in: firefox (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to firefox in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1009652 Title: Firefox 12 & 13 do not support Java applet under Ubuntu 12.04 Status in “firefox” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Reproduce: - Open Firefox 12 or 13 - Go to : http://java.com/en/download/testjava.jsp - Normally a java applet should appear informing the user that Java is working. Instead, the web browser hangs a while and freezes. Obliged then to force quit. I already enabled Java for firefox by removing ICEDTEA plugin and adding a symbolic link to the correct plugin : /usr/lib/jvm/jdk1.7.0/jre/lib/amd64/libnpjp2.so in ~/.mozilla/plugins And typing about:plugins reveals that indeed Java is installed in Firefox. I tried with all firefox extensions disabled but in vain. -------------------------- System: Ubuntu 12.04 on AMD64 laptop. --------------------------------------- ~$ java -version java version "1.7.0_04" Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0_04-b20) Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 23.0-b21, mixed mode) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Java works fine in Google Chrome / Chromium / Midori / Opera. ------------------------- Thanks in advance for your interest.
