Title:
Sofware center not allowing to install / view content

Status in “software-center” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I had problems connecting with my EVDO modem using standard network manager.
For this reason I used wvdial, which worked fine. But the problem is that
wvdial does not change the state of the network - network manager applet says
that I'm offline (though i am connected through wvdial and I'm actually writing
this using it). This leads to software center not allowing to install anything
/ view product comments, though it does fetch screenshots.
