Title:
  "monitor_stats: runtime check failed" causes network manager to drop
  connection

Status in “network-manager-applet” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Network manager drops 3G connection within a minute after having
  successfully established it. Following is written to the syslog:

  May  5 09:48:23 xxxwp400322 NetworkManager[17141]: <info> PPP manager(IP
Config Get) reply received.
  May  5 09:48:23 xxxwp400322 NetworkManager[17141]: modem_ip4_config_result:
assertion `nm_device_activate_ip4_state_in_conf (device) == TRUE' failed
  May  5 09:48:23 xxxwp400322 NetworkManager[17141]:
(nm-ppp-manager.c:331):monitor_stats: runtime check failed: (priv->monitor_id
== 0)

  After several service network-manager restart/stop/start following
  appeared:

  May  5 09:58:58 xxxwp400322 NetworkManager[30656]: <info> (ttyUSB0): device
state change: unmanaged -> unavailable (reason 'managed') [10 20 2]
  May  5 09:58:58 xxxwp400322 NetworkManager[30656]: <info> (ttyUSB0):

  May  5 09:58:58 xxxwp400322 NetworkManager[30656]: <info> (ttyUSB0): device

  it tried to send bug report automatically but since I was offline i'm
  not sure if it was sent. After that record appeared in the log, NM
  refused to appear in Unity bar despite more stop/starts. Unity
  --replace also didn't help. Then I restarted whole thing and after
  another couple of NP stop/starts it worked. It never was a problem to
  use 3G connection before I upgraded to 12.04

  Perhaps you also need:

  1) Ubuntu 12.04
  2)network-manager:
    Installed: 0.9.4.0-0ubuntu3
    Candidate: 0.9.4.0-0ubuntu3
    Version table:
   *** 0.9.4.0-0ubuntu3 0
          500 http://ua.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise/main amd64 Packages
          100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
  3) I expected to connect to my 3G provider and enjoy.
  4) I had to waist my precious time to get it working and I'm not sure if it
will work next time.

  Best regards, Eugene.
