None were installed in the upgrade, only upgraded with apt-get upgrade. From a previous distribution upgrade from 11.04 to 11.10 caused this: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1859799 but the network was still functional from that, and now after the update from two weeks ago, the network stopped working and I still have the waiting for network config bug.
