I don't believe there is  support for the use of a root nautilus browser  
anymore

  regression: gksu nautilus is not able to change permissions of files
  and folders

Status in “nautilus” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  I am on Ubuntu12.04 Quantal 64bit.

  Running gksu nautilus it is not possible anymore to do permission
  changes to files and folders.

  file/folder -> right mopuse click -> permissions

  trying to change any of the drop down menu entries in there is not
  possible.
