Title:
[GLES] [USE_MODERN_COMPIZ_GL] Screen goes black if unityshell is
  loaded and vertex_buffer_object=OFF

Status in Unity:
  Fix Released
Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
In the new GLES code, the opengl plugin has a new option
"vertex_buffer_object" which is enabled by default. It is optional and
rendering works perfectly with or without it.

However with unityshell loaded, it is no longer optional. Disabling
vertex_buffer_object makes windows darken quickly until the whole
screen is black. And I can't get it back without resetting my compiz
  settings externally.
