It's tracking the status in GNOME's bugzilla - they marked it as a dupe. If I were you I wouldn't get your hopes up on this feature being included. They'd rather sniff glue than put any design effort into their programs, so you might as well install a different file manager at this point. This request is six years old and will still be here until Gnome finally dies.

In the search results, please also add an **Open file location** selection to the context menu (right-click menu) on each filesystem item found. This would open the item's parent folder. E.g., if the search found an item at **/a/b/c/item.txt**, then right- clicking on its icon and selecting **Open file location** would open a new window showing the contents of the **/a/b/c/** folder.
