Title:
windows with a non-zero border width are not rendered correctly

Bug description:
  Version: 4.12.0-0ubuntu2
  Release: 11.10

In the attached screenshot, the bottom-left xterm was started with -bw
0, and the top-right xterm was started with -bw 1. The zero-border
xterm evinces no rendering problems, but the top-right xterm seems
confused about where the cursor is, failing to erase it fully as I
type (normally a solid white block, customized locally to a solid red
block) and the background image is visible through the frame in a
  rather interesting manner.

Various other standard X clients (e.g., xmag, xfontsel) behave
similarly, and in each case running them with -bw 0 eliminates the
  glitches.
