After a while of being powered-up the sound on my laptop gets corrupt for SOME apps and not others. When first started all apps work together, all noises and sounds work fine. In my case I mainly use VLC, Rhythmbox and Wine. The fault is not with Wine as the whole Wine layer can be unloaded and started at any time, and only occurs randomly after being on for a while. Rhythmbox has never had this problem. The sound is severely distorted and unusable. A reboot usually solves the problem, but sometimes it is still bad and needs to be rebooted again.
