What you describe in comment #7 is normally considered advanced calculator function.
In basic (default) mode, a calculator should always behave symmetrically between mouse action and keyboard action. If I click on the = sign on screen and get a result, then pressing the = key should give the same result. In a basic calculator, we expect basic behaviour. In prior versions of gcalctool, this has always been this way. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gcalctool in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/755195 Title: gcalctool should calculate the result when the = key is pressed Status in GCalctool: Confirmed Status in “gcalctool” package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: Binary package hint: gcalctool When I use a mouse pointer to do 2+2= I get 4, but when I use a keyboard I get 2+2= as per attached screenshot. In basic mode (default), I expect normal calculator behaviour, not algebraic behaviour. After this, you have to press Enter to display the result. The expected result would be to display the result when pressing the = key, just as when you press the Enter key.
