This happens to me too, in particular when using an external monitor. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1063487
Title: Desktop icons/files gets mixed up and overlapped on boot from time to time Status in “nautilus” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I have my desktop icons neatly placed in a grid, and mostly it stays that way. But from time to time, when I turn on my PC, they have changed places, most of them ending up on top of each other. Please see attached screenshot. I'm using 12.10 x64 (fully updated), but this has also happened in 12.04. I don't know that I did anything special before turning off the PC before this happened, and I haven't noticed any pattern for when it happens.
